Ah Siong Assam Expert Fishing for Five-spot Herring or Assam fish (local), Selangat (malay) at Woodland Jetty.

The proper name for this baitfish is Five-spot Herring. Like the beltfish, it is a hardy bait in the water. Speaking from personal experience, Grouper, Barracuda, Queenfish and Sea Bass can't seem to resist this snack. Often hard to get on jigs, this particular specimen was found to have been accidentally hooked when jigging for Tambans.

NB: The trick in catching Assam is when you find the school of Assam, try to anticipate which direction they are heading then cast your sabiki rig past the school of Assam then reel back through the school at a fast rate to foul hook the Assam but sometime if they are in feeding mood it would start to eat first then ask questions later then you are in luck.
