Barramundi [Lates Calcarifer] Kim Bak Lor 金目鲈 [Chinese], Siakap [Malay] weighing 5kg plus Caught At Woodland Jetty by Ah Ling using live Tamban with float on 9th May 2013. Today morning after spotted a Barramundi [Lates Calcarifer] Kim Bak Lor 金目鲈 [Chinese], Siakap [Malay] Ah Ling try to get the fish to take his live tamban bait but it not interested so he put his rod back into his rod-stand. While we were chatting he discover his bait fish disappear deep in the water than on closer look he saw a Barramundi inhaled his death bait fish disappear into the fish’s mouth and about to swim away. He waited to the fish is felt then use a firm strip strike to set his hook and the reel scream is fish on. The fish jump out of the water shaking it’s head with it’s gills flared, this is an attempt to dislodge the hook, but this is how a Barramundi can get free ( NB: When the fish is jumping its a good idea is to lower the rod tip to the opposite side to the way the fish is heading, keeping a good bow in the rod to cushion there head shakes. ) . After a few jumps the fish starts to tire out, and Ah Lee was around with his rope gaff and manage to help Ah Ling land the fish credit go to Ah Lee.

Barramundi [Lates Calcarifer] also know as Kim Bak Lor 金目鲈[Chinese] or Siakap[Malay] weighing 5kg plus Caught At Woodland Jetty by Mr Rashid using live prawn or tamban.
Barramundi also know as Kim Bak Lor 金目鲈 or Siakap weighing 5kg plus Caught by Rashid At Woodland Jetty
This fish gave Rashid a real big fight on his 9' daiwa phantom snapper, paired with shimano Alivio 10000, fitted with 30lbs braided line and tightened to 90lbs flouro carbon leader with 12" of invisiable red 90lbs wire and 4/0 circle hook to hold the prawn...pheew! To pulled it up, he borrowed a long poled net from a fellow angler (which he later broke it to 3 pieces, and payed $22 for it), and finally it landed on the jetty at 1.20am.
Tips: At any time, don't let your catch find refuge under the jetty, you'll have to pump it hard and make sure in remain in the open, maintain your drag to the max of you line weight, so that the fish will not pull your line under the jetty and then break it by cutting it on the sharp edges of the growth of mussels at the pillars.
Barramundi [Lates Calcarifer] also know as Kim Bak Lor 金目鲈[Chinese] or Siakap[Malay] weighing 6kg Caught At Woodland Jetty by Mr Cham using live Five-spot Herring or Assam fish (local), Selangat (malay). Word of precaution Barramundi had Sharp gill plates so handle with care.
Barramundi [Lates Calcarifer] also know as Kim Bak Lor 金目鲈[Chinese] or Siakap[Malay] are wonderful game fish for lure anglers. It will attack a lure present correctly to it, not just out of hunger, but also out of aggression. There is always a suction effect associated with the way the Barramundi feeds. This is due to the fact that the Barramundi inhales the prey instead of biting it.
